Andritz to modernize refrigerator recycling plant in Lithuania

The scope of supply comprises the feeding of the cooling devices to the shredder including the safety technology, the atmosphere drying equipment inside the machine as well as the conveyor technology for the discharge and provision of the processed material for the subsequent process steps. An Andritz Universal Cross-Flow Shredder QZ2000 has been started-up in 2012 and will remain in the system. In addition, Andritz supplies the heating screw conveyors for the transport of the material as well as the screening machine with which the ground insulation of the cooling appliances is sieved out of the material flow. In the new matrix degassing system, residual components of solvents are evaporated and fed to a recovery system.

The fully encapsulated, single-stage refrigerator recycling system from Andritz is capable to recover environmentally harmful greenhouse gases from CFC and pentane appliances. The plant is designed in a way that it can also process other electronic waste in addition to refrigerators. With the new equipment, EMP will increase its capacity to process up to 60 refrigerators or optionally five tons of e-waste per hour.

EMP Recycling, headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania, is specialized in the purchasing, collection and recycling of waste and the production of secondary raw materials. The company is WEEELABEX certified for the collection and logistics and is currently in the certification process for waste treatment. EMP Recycling was established in 1999 and comprises several collection facilities for various waste products all over Lithuania.
