Modernization of a Czech refrigerator recycling plant

The Universal Cross-Flow Shredder QZ, type 2500, supplied by Andritz is capable of processing up to 110 refrigerators per hour in a single-stage process. Unlike conventional cutting systems, the operating principle of the Cross-Flow Shredder QZ is based on rotating tools that break up the input material gently using the effects of impact forces. The components remain intact, preventing the uncontrolled escape of potentially harmful substances from the individual parts. The output fractions extracted, such as iron, non-ferrous metals and plastics, are returned to the industrial cycle.

With thisnew equipment, Praktik not only complies with the Weeelabex standards, but also achieves high recovery rates for environmentally harmful greenhouse gases and pentane gas. The scope of delivery also included supply of the feeding technology, steel structures and control system, as well as supervision of installation, commissioning and start-up of the complete plant.

Praktik system, headquartered in Liberec, Czech Republic, will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year and can draw upon its long-term experience in processing and disposal of cooling appliances and other electronic and electrical equipment using environmentally friendly methods. The raw materials recovered are provided to producers in various industries throughout Europe, where Praktik is especially known for its recycled plastics.
